Produced with Le Guin’s participation over the course of a decade, Worlds of Ursula K. Le Guin tells the coming-of-age story of the Portland, Oregon, housewife and mother of three who forever transformed American literature. The film explores the personal and professional life of the notoriously private author through revealing conversations with Le Guin as well as her family, friends and the generations of renowned writers she influenced. Presented as part of the One City, One Poet celebration of National Poetry Month.
The safety of our patrons and employees is our top priority. The COVID-19 situation is evolving quickly and library staff are working to keep everyone safe by following guidelines from the McHenry County Health Department, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Centers for Disease Control.
Last night, Wednesday, March 11, the McHenry County Health Department released the recommendation that all municipalities and organizations in McHenry County cancel/postpone all non-essential meetings and events. As a result the library administration has made the difficult decision to cancel ALL library programming during the month of March through April 12.
At this time we do not have rescheduling information available. Final decisions regarding how and when storytime programming will be offered are still being considered.
The Friends of WPL's Mini Links and Library After Dark fundraiser scheduled for March 13 & 14 is postponed indefinitely. The Friends are in the process of notifying all of the sponsors, volunteers, and attendees. At this time a new date has not been set. The Mini Links Raffle Ticket Sales will be extended through the month of March. The raffle drawing will be held on the afternoon of Wed, April 1.
