This 50-minute video features a captivating mix of vintage photographs, color film clips, period music, and voices from over 100 editions of the classic Chicago Auto Show. Mitch Frumkin, Chicago Auto Show historian, will take on the role of commentator throughout the video presentation.
Viewers will witness the unveiling of historic vehicles; displays of classic automobiles, American muscle and pony cars, imports from around the world, exotic supercars, futuristic dream cars, and concept vehicles, alongside famous sports figures, political and entertainment celebrities, Broadway-style musical performances, and much more.
At WPL, particular emphasis will be given to a pair of Guanci SJJ 1 GT sports cars displayed at the 1980 Chicago Auto Show due to its local relevance from the Guanci Automobile factory that was located at 220 N. Madison St in Woodstock. Additionally, Mitch plans to share photographs of the Guanci, including design renderings and images from both inside and outside the factory.
Following the film and discussion, Mitch will conduct raffles at the end of the videos to award five sets of complimentary passes to the 118th annual Chicago Auto Show, which is set for February 7-16, 2026. Additionally, there are opportunities to win vehicle care products from Turtle Wax, as well as signed editions of the book, "First To One Hundred - History of First 100 Chicago Auto Shows".
